Enacted Legislation
Senate File (SF) 562, formerly House Study Bill 290, was a broad appropriations bill signed by Governor Chester J. Culver on May 29, 2007 and effective July 1, 2007. The law included a provision stating that any business that creates jobs with economic development assistance from the state shall be subject to contract provisions stating that all of the business' employees are either citizens of the United States who reside within the United States or are otherwise authorized to work in the United States pursuant to federal law, including legal resident aliens in the United States. Any vendor who receives public moneys must adhere to such contract provisions.
